Last week we hosted the U.S. State Department's IVLP project from the Near East and North Africa on the topic of Preserving Cultural Heritage and Combating Trafficking of Conflict Antiquities. We connected these world leaders with local leaders from the National Park Services and the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.
Our group met with Petroglyph National Monument's Superintendent, Nancy Hendricks and discussed current preservation methods of the historical petroglyphs.
We also met with Jon Ghahate, docent at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and discussed the history of the tribes and Pueblos of New Mexico, focusing on how the history influences modern methods of cultural preservation.
